BOSTON, USA: A 20-year-old Indian student, Abhijeeth Paruchuru, was found dead in Boston, marking the ninth such incident involving Indian students in the US this year. Initial investigations revealed no foul play, and the Indian Consulate in New York extended support to the family. Paruchuru’s parents, based in Connecticut, collaborated with detectives. His body was transported to India with assistance from the US-based nonprofit organization TEAM Aid.

The string of deaths has raised concerns within the Indian community in the US. In one recent incident, 34-year-old dancer Amarnath Ghosh was fatally shot in St. Louis, Missouri, while pursuing his artistic aspirations. Other victims include Sameer Kamath, Vivek Taneja, Syed Mazahir Ali, Vivek Saini, Shreyas Reddy Beniger, Neel Acharya, and Akul B Dhawan.

In response to these tragedies, the Indian Embassy in Washington and consulates held virtual interactions with Indian students across the US to address student well-being and community connectivity. About 150 Indian Student Association members from 90 universities participated in the discussions led by Charge d’Affaires and Ambassador Sripriya Ranganathan, along with Consul Generals from various cities.
